Matlock Community Land Trust has been established to make a positive difference in our local area. We are proud to have received our Seal of Registration from the Financial Conduct Authority.
While we may expand our activities in the future, our initial focus is on the Cavendish Road car park and playing field on Matlock Bank. We aim to protect and maintain the car park as a community asset for the benefit of local residents.
Preserving the car park for local use will help ease congestion on the narrow surrounding roads, providing a much-needed off-street parking option for residents.
The adjacent playing field (whilst not an ACV) is an ideal location for new allotments. It is currently lying fallow, faces south, and offers great potential. With allotments in short supply in Matlock — and many being lost to development — this is a valuable opportunity to support sustainable, community-based growing spaces.
We’re here to enhance the local area and improve the quality of life for people in our community.
Our motto is Community Before Cash

We recently conducted a survey on traffic and parking in the area and here are some early results.
Of the first 108 responses all live in Matlock; 71% drive; 36% use local bus services; 34% both drive and use bus services; 75% have seen a bus of similarly large vehicle unable to negotiate Cavendish Road; 94% believe conditions are worse since the DCC car park closure; 72% are unhappy with the condition of the pavements along Cavendish Road; 20 responders said they had witnessed a road traffic accident along Cavendish Road and finally over 98% said that reopening the car park would improve matters locally.
